Weighing In

Terrycloth is one of the heaviest fabrics used for making bathrobes. One measure of the thickness/plushness of a robe is to determine the fabric's weight. Per square yard, terry can range from 10 to 30 ounces. Most robes and wraps are made from fabric weighing 12 to 18 oz./sq. yd. Even at that, a dry terry cloth robe can weigh 4 pounds or more. A soaking wet robe can feel like wearing a soft suit of armor!
