Riddance of Religious Recruiter

If those sanitized young men and women come knocking when they're not wanted, try this. Answer the door in your velour bathrobe. Pretend to have just woken regardless of time of day. Apologize for your condition by saying “Last night's ritual for the Dark One went very late.” It's worth the look on their faces and they're unlikely to return.

Utility Robes for Water Lovers

Need a private place to change when at the beach? Some bathrobes are designed as pullovers, so there is no belt and open front. Zip fron velour robes are another good option for this. By pulling your arms inside the robe, you can modestly change outfits without complicated contortions in the back of your car. Robes made for surfers, lifeguards, divers, and others also have extra pouches built into the robe for keeping clothes from lying in the sand.

A Place for your Pet

Have an old velour bathrobe and a bit of gumption? Using only a saw, hammer and nails to make the small wood frame, build a cat hammock. Fold over the edge of the cut up velour robe and sew the edges to form four straight loops. Insert the wood frame sides into the loops and nail together with the wood legs. Voila! A soft resting place that's easy to move around.

Teddy Bear Suave

Kids (and a lot of adults) love stuffed animals. Consider turning that tattered teddy into a hip swingster. Sew a bear-size red satin robe. Add some velvet trim and you'll have a Hugh Hefner look-alike. Or make your bear a custom velour zip front bath robe to mimic mom or grandma!

Velour Bathrobe Tips

Velour is a plush, velvety fabric with a stretchy knit backing used for many bath robes. The plush portion is often cotton with the backing being a cotton/poly blend. Wool and various man-made fibers can be made into velour fabric. Velour can have the look of crushed velvet and appears to change color depending on how it is viewed. It is insulating and soft to the touch. Zip front robes are often made of velour.
